A video about our adventures in Italy made by the one and only BATMAN!!!
Wilco: “Dawned On Me” (Official Video)
It’s been three decades since the last appearance of Popeye in a hand-drawn form, but today the iconic spinach-loving Sailor Man returns along with Olive Oyl, Swee’Pea, Wimpy, Bluto, and… Wilco. Watch above as director Darren Romanelli and King Features bring the classic cartoon back to life, just in time for Jeff Tweedy to settle Bluto and Popeye’s near-century-long rivalry for the love of Olive Oyl, once and for all.

Catalan hitmaker Doctor Sucio called me at three in the morning (which is noon in Spain) to tell me that he’s blacked out. Like literally he’s drunk on the streets of Barcelona. I couldn’t understand the Doctor when he called. All I could make out was the following:

Magnetic Fields: “Andrew in Drag”
Last month, the new Magnetic Fields record, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, was teased as a return to form, of sorts, to Stephin Merritt’s most endearing set so far, 69 Love Songs. Now we have a glimpse of his reunion with Merge Records, and yeah, many of the key elements from that 1999 LP (indelible melodies, droll lyricism, whimsical instrumentation, et al.) feel refreshingly present upon first listen. Hear his ode to “Andrew in Drag” above.

Happy belated new year, amigos of the interwebs! Here’s to a new year, new friends, new places, and new music. I’d like to bid adieu to 2011 with this video, Mike Tyson’s rendition of “Girl from Ipanema”. 2012, let’s pick up the pace, pick up the quality, whaddya say? One of my new years resolutions was to record more of my own jams, so keep your eyes peeled- they may very well end up here! I guess, however, this is highly contingent upon my other new years resolution- cutting back on the bottle. Regardless, let’s go prove those Mayans wrong. And if we cannot, let’s at least go HAM until the asteroid comes or the Kardashians take over, whatever comes first.
